Recognizing how the current corona crisis is hitting undocumented, domestic workers the hardest, we, the allies of domestic workers, stand in solidarity with them.
Most domestic workers work on the basis of no-work, no-pay basis, and many reports that they have lost 50% to 75% of their income since the start of the pandemic. They have no access to social security, which means losing work for them means their livelihoods and those who depend on their remittance back home will be in danger in a matter of weeks. Majority of domestic workers in the Netherlands are undocumented, meaning that they exist outside of social security that protects people in general. In times of the crisis like this, people who lost jobs, small business owners, freelancers all have an access to governmental funding as part of stimulus plan even though the amount granted to each group is far from enough, but domestic workers who are part of the social fabric cannot apply for such help.
If the government doesn’t step up in its effort to recognize such need, we, the people build “social security” for domestic workers.

For immediate forms of social security for domestic workers, we appeal to you to do the followings:

- Employers keep paying 75%-100% of the agreed salary to domestic workers in solidarity and comply with the legal provisions granted to all workers regardless of their status.
- Contributing to the emergency fund that can provide direct financial support to domestic workers who have no income. The crowdfunding is now starting from the Migrant Domestic Workers group within the FNV.
- Help to spread the crowdfunding site and this message to employers in your networks/communities

How to be involved in creating social security in a long term?
- Strengthen support in issues of health(care) and direct needs of domestic workers. Build a good structure in which we can reach out to people, inform them about possibilities, and get back signals.. Strenghten ties with direct partners who can act in those different fields.

- Think/work together with migrant domestic workers on setting up a more structured fund. The idea is to aim for setting long-term on funding such as bread fund after the crowdfunding will be carried out, possibility of
